Description
I would like to see the sortable placeholder be a clone of the original item just with visibility:hidden (or at least have an option for this). The reason is so surrounding items keep a consistent layout when it comes to issues like vertical align.

Sorry, this is about the placeholder, not the helper. Can you explain why the existing implementation doesn't work for you? A reduced test case showing the problem goes a long way.

Because we get so many tickets, we often need to return them to the initial reporter for more information. If that person does not reply within 14 days, the ticket will automatically be closed, and that has happened in this case. If you still are interested in pursuing this issue, feel free to add a comment with the requested information and we will be happy to reopen the ticket if it is still valid. Thanks!
Why can't you use the existing
helperoption to achieve this?
