cannot select text in dialog content when modal, autoOpen, etc set

similar to http://ui.jquery.com/bugs/ticket/3059 this shows up in all browsers, 1.5.2, 1.6b, and svn 634.
this occurs with only ui.core.js, ui.dialog.js, and jquery.js (1.2.6) - it's independent of the earlier draggable/resizable bug though it's the same end effect.
http://dev.jquery.com/view/trunk/ui/demos/functional/#ui.dialog - simple dialog is the only example that has it's content show up.
