JQuery Modal Dialog Gets Prematurely Destroyed

Description
I have a jquery modal dialog displayed. When I apply the bounce effect to the dialog, it correctly bounces the dialog, but then proceeds to destroy the dialog once it is finished. This was working with jquery core 1.3.2 but started to happen when I upgraded to jquery core 1.4.2.
jQuery UI 1.7.2 isn't compatible with jQuery 1.4.2. Please upgrade to jQuery UI 1.8.
