Description
A filter icon is needed for a wide array of web applications, currently is missing from the standard library

I think he is refering to an icon representing a "filter an existing list values by some criteria" operation.
Tipically represented by something like this [[Image(http://www.cylex-usa.com/images/icons/filter-small.png)]]

We don't have any process in place to add more icons. Its also easy enough to just define custom icons, and there's endless icons that could potentially be useful.
Unless we want to expand to a lot more icons, we should not address this.

We don't have any other open tickets for adding icons. There's some discussion here, but nothing conclusive really: http://wiki.jqueryui.com/w/page/12137970/jQuery%20UI%20CSS%20Framework
As said before, a custom icon is easy enough, so closing this ticket.

I'm not sure why this is wontfix. Filtering is common, and we may even want this specific icon for the grid. While there may not be other tickets open for new icons, people have requested new icons (even on the wiki page you linked to). There's additional discussion at http://wiki.jqueryui.com/w/page/26308090/ThemeRoller%20icon%20set which has requests for even more icons.
On top of that, we're talking about a new icon system, so it seems premature to make a decision about which icons will or won't be available.

Marking as a valid request. If we decide not to add any icons, we can still close as wontfix, but we should wait until we know what the plans are for the next version of ThemeRoller.

+1 for this request, I use jquery ui icons in an online database application I have created, and I use jquery ui buttons for record navigation, a filter icon / clear filter icon would be very handy. I think it is a reasonable request.

Going back to Jörn's original resolution. We should address the issue of seamlessly adding custom icons to the CSS framework, and we should include common icons like filtering in the new CSS framework, but we probably shouldn't have open issues for specific icons.
