Autocomplete submit behavior not consistent across all browsers

Description
jQuery 1.5.0
jQuery.UI 1.8.13
Browsers - IE8, Chrome 11, FF4.0.1
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate
You have to hit enter twice to submit a form after selecting an item from the list when using IE or Chrome. However it works as expected in FireFox (form is submitted after pressing enter once).
