Go to http://ui-dev.jquery.com/demos/ with IE6 and you'll see what I mean.

Why should our web site not support the same browsers as the JavaScript library the site is about?

Out of 8% IE traffic for the various jQuery sites, only 2% is IE6. There's more important stuff then that.
